PRIVACY STATEMENT

This Statement establishes how the Court Services Bureau (herein known as CSB) will use information we gather about you from your visit to our website.

When you visit a CSB web page:

1. While viewing or downloading information or data:

We do not collect, store, or otherwise maintain any data from any user of the CSB web pages including "cookies" for use in identifying the sender or user.   Some other pages at this site, not in the CSB path, may collect information in order to distribute content, but there is no effort made to collect data and attribute it to any person, IP address, person or location.  See item number 4.

 

2. If you send us an E-mail:

By sending us an electronic mail message, you may be sending us personal information (e.g., name, address, E-mail address, IP address, smtp server).  It is the policy of the CSB to store all incoming E-mail.  Our primary purpose is to respond to the request or to otherwise resolve the subject matter of your E-mail.

 

3. If you use "FormMail" rather than Email:

Our FormMail pages offer more anonymity than Email but some data is stored.  It is likely that we will store your referring IP address, operating system and  browser type.  We seek feedback from our users in order to improve the service offered by the site.  Answering feedback questions is voluntary.

 

4. Data Storage, Use and Disclosure, and Retention:

All personal and routing data described in the preceding three sections is stored as E-mail or in transmission logs, and archived for a period that is yet to be determined but is likely to be at least 12 months and quite probably 7 years.  We routinely use this data for automated statistical purposes.   Identified data may be disclosed to a third party only in circumstances in which such disclosure is legally authorized, such as in the investigation of a criminal offense, and in compliance with a search warrant or subpoena.  We may redirect your message to another division within the Sheriff's department or other government agency that may be in a better position to answer your question.

 

5. Our Hit Counters:

The CSB hit counters do not store or otherwise gather any user data, beyond their common purpose of counting page views.

The CSB may provide links to web pages which are not hosted on the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's web servers or San Diego County web servers.  These sites are not under our control, and we is not responsible for the information, links you may find there, or dead links.  The CSB is providing these links only as a convenience.  The presence of these links on any the CSB web page is not intended to imply our endorsement of that site, but to provide a convenient link to relevant sites which are managed by other government agencies or companies.  Most off-site links will open a new window in your browser.
