Synopsis: San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Detail continue to look for leads in the 2005 unsolved murder of 18-year-old William Napoleon Gibbs.
On March 19, 2005, deputies from the Lemon Grove Sheriff Station responded to the 8000 block of Lemon Grove Way regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When deputies arrived they found the victim, William Gibbs, lying in the driveway of a residence. Witnesses stated they saw William and two other males talking in front of an apartment complex when two black males approached William and his friends. Both males produced a gun and as William was attempting to get away one of the suspects shot William. The suspects then fled the area on foot. Cause of death was due to a gunshot wound.
At the time of the crime the suspects were described as:
- Suspect #1: Black male adult, 18 years old, short “afro,” goatee, 6’0”, 185lbs, red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans
- Suspect #2: Black male adult, 18 years old, short “afro,” clean shaven, 5’10”, 160lbs, gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans.
