Commander Kelly Martinez serves the Law Enforcement Services Bureau as the Investigations Commander. Her responsibilities include management of the Central Investigations Division (Homicide, Child Abuse, SAFE, CATCH, ICAC, Juvenile, Financial Crimes and Elder Abuse) and the Special Investigations Division (Criminal Intelligence and Task Force Operations).

Commander Kelly Martinez joined the Sheriff’s Department in 1985. As a deputy sheriff she worked in the Detentions Bureau, then the Fallbrook Substation as a patrol deputy. In 1989 she was assigned to the JUDGE Unit which was a multi-jurisdictional task force assigned to gang and drug enforcement. Following her time at the JUDGE Unit she was assigned to gang enforcement in the city of Vista. She concluded her investigative assignments as a deputy at the Criminal Intelligence Detail where she worked for ten years in a number of disciplines.

Commander Martinez promoted to sergeant in 2007, where she was assigned to San Marcos Patrol, the Criminal Intelligence Detail and Internal Affairs. In 2011, she promoted to lieutenant and completed assignments at the Communications Center, Encinitas Station, Valley Center Substation and the Narcotic Task Force. Upon promotion to Captain in 2014, she was assigned as the Alpine Station/Rural Enforcement Detail Commander and then as the Special Assistant to Sheriff Gore. She was promoted to Commander in April of 2017.
